sulky or grumpy.I heard this as a kid in Tassie in the 50's. Dad said that only Mum's family used it. Mum was born in Tas; her mother in Kalgoorlie of an English father and a German mother, and Mum's father was German. There is a German word "zornig" which might have been the origin of "sorny".: Don't talk to her, she's sorny because she can't play outside. Also, sawny.
